So yeah, I more or less have finished watching Friday the 13th movies (the first one is still half-finished and the ninth... I just... I just couldn't) and overall they've been a fairly positive experience. Well, after you get over the "oh god all these movies are the same when will this end" feeling and learn to love the pain.
The second (and first, as far as I've heard) still are pretty nice horror movies that haven't gone to the "slasher" side yet, from the 3rd to the 5th they are pretty okay slashers (as in from the 3rd movie the characters just start to be that sort of general asshole teens) that really have no real plot but have their nice things (that Pseudo Echo song in the 5th? YES PLZ).
Movie 6: Jason Lives is probably my favorite since it's much more like a... 90's direct-to-video kids movie in the way how it plays out (we have an actual main character who resurrects Jason accidentally, and who must fix this but no one believes him, I could totally see that to be a plot to a stupid kids movie) and it has lots of things the other movies don't, like an actual hero, a clear goal, lack of cliche'd irritating teens and more variation (like the little kids in the camp which you might actually don't want to get hurt). Obviously people still die, a lot, but it's not a slasher movie in that way as the others are.
If you had to see just one of these, I might suggest you to watch either this, or the second one, depending on the level of stupid you want.
The 7th movie continues with the "wtf" theme that zombie Jason of the previous movie started, this time with a telekinetic girl and it's another okay one.

The 8th movie, Jason Takes Manhattan is stupid. And by god how I love it for that. It's getting really contrived but it also becomes much funnier and because I am watching it here today without expectations and not in 1898, I didn't really mind the fact that Jason really wasn't much in Manhattan in the way all the ads and trailers so long ago promised. I like that it features lot more of Jason doing things and some of the kills are really funny too.

Oh god that's so precious. Kill that boombox, Jason!
Also, I remember when WE had a boombox *nostalgic tear*
It does have a scene or two that are, to me, surprisingly squicky, and I really would want to see what they would have done if they had had all the budget they needed. Maybe there's the original screenplay somewhere?

The 9th movie however? Two words: FUCK YOU. It's the "Jason is actually a body-swapping hellworm that must find his blood relative to possess" movie. Maybe that wouldn't have been such a big deal if I hadn't watched all the other movies before this one, but as I did, I had learned the basic MO of Jason (kill people who come to Crystal Lake) and this movie just totally changed that. It introduced plot that didn't fit the character at all as well as potential plotholes (thus far he hasn't really planned stuff nor do I think he even knows he has any relatives and for some reason I think he might even, you know, not want to kill his relatives, what with him loving his mom so much) and we don't even see actual Jason during most of the movie, which didn't help at all. Thus far he's been an aimless killer, like a shark, but now he has to do things deliberately and actually think for that.

The 10th movie is probably the most funniest one in the series. It's not scary at all and has some extra hammy lines and things and overall it's pretty entertaining. I mean, it's IN SPACE.
Kinda same can be said of Freddy VS Jason, which is another one that I do like a lot. It's not too serious and Jason is such a puppy in this, but it doesn't fall too much to the same problem as Alien VS Predator, where one side is clearly much more better choice than the other to side with.
Also the sequel comics, Freddy VS Jason VS Ash (as in Evil Dead's Ashley) are pretty nice too, though I really didn't care for the artwork that much.

The Friday the 13th remake is... a lot better than I expected, though I admit it doesn't really do anything really new (lots of obnoxious teenagers, gosh, I wonder what ever might happen) and that there are things that really don't stand too close examination (as you'll see) but I really did like the good housewife survival nut take on Jason and all the new kills that come from that (bear trap precision strike!) On conclusion I now have a tiny remake Jason figurine on my desk. *cough*

Lots of Friday the 13th and Splatterhouse fanart, animuls, doodles, dragons, cars original characters that I haven't drawn in AGESCollapse )

I'm finally trying to watch Friday the 13th film series (at least some of them).
Kinda weird that I've managed to not see any of these (even from the TV), seeing how I've seen at least one movie of almost all of the other long running slasher/horror movie series.

Piglantis is out! One of the weirder updates that was completely changed half-way that apparently became fan-favorite or something and jumped in the charts.

Also we're pretty hectic at work because I'll have to finish a lot of things before my vacation that starts next month, but next month I'll also be... MOVING!
To Helsinki!
I'm expecting that something will be destroyed in the move and the apartment is really small and quite expensive but also very charming.

Ha! Oh my god the whole hockey thing in here has been a total farce. First all the actual tickets to the game are made ridiculously expensive in favor of advertizing the paid TV-channels that show the games to the point that the seats are empty in the games, and on top of that they tried to geoblock the games in Youtube (as you can watch the games legally live from Youtube) so that they'd be visible to everyone else except for Finnish people (FOR OUR OWN GAMES), and now that people used proxies to get over the block (which isn't even illegal), the channel owners are crying theft because broadcast right were sooo expensive to them and people didn't pay it when they could watch it for free! Legally!

I'd say all of this could have avoided if they had concentrated on the marketing and ads, and kept the tickets affordable and shown the games from TV free, like they used to be.

Ha ha, holy crap man:

I love how they did all the scales in the body by just moving the brush.

Also, I started playing Magic The Gathering! I've been collecting the cards for the art for about a year or so, and found out that my local Fantasiapelit game/comic shop in Helsinki holds booster drafts on Friday Night Magic every week. And I signed up for this Saturday's "Avacyn Restored" pre-release too.

Also unfortunately I've been feeling vaguely woozy again, making me fear that the inner ear problem might return soon... I really hope not.

So yeah, yesterday I had to be taken to a hospital with an ambulance when I suddenly started feeling very dizzy for no reason, and after some time it became clear that it wasn't just from lack of blood sugar, but constant vertigo so strong that I couldn't sit or stand up or walk.
In the hospital (where I had to wait for several hours >:V ) it was diagnosed to be benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, so now I have ten days of sick leave and I walk like a drunkard.

Hopefully this leaves sooner and doesn't repeat so that I can get back to work and draw, this state doesn't feel very good.

ARgh, I got pissed after seeing someone whining about how you should use spoiler tags when another commenter had used one scene of Deep Blue Sea (the one where Samuel L. Jackson gets offed by a shark) as an example in their comment because now that they knew that part there's no reason for them to watch the movie anymore. Really? Are you seriously serious?
The movie is over TWELVE YEARS OLD so if you didn't want to get spoiled I dare to say you had plenty of time to watch it, and you got to know one character death in the movie (which, though importantly played, wasn't really even a major conclusion to the whole film or something like that), so the rest 100 minutes of it are totally worthless now and will offer you no emotional response or entertainment?

Jesus Christ, I really don't get that.

OH MY GOD LET ME GO. I've been sitting overtime at work for the past four hours (for practically n oreason). Let us gooooo!
God damn clock is almost nine in the evening and I still have an hour or more to ride the bus back home. FFFFFFUUUUUUUUU--

And honestly I have kinda weird relationship with Tumblr. The replying system is such crap, I can't stand when people constantly go back and forth and get even longer and longer and longer and LONGER walls of text when they reblog their replies and RRRRRRAAGHHHHHH there's been so many times when I've considered just deleting the whole thing but then thought that it's still good to be in places with my art so I ended up just unfollowing bunch of people.
